Goodwill Everywhere

Am I the only one a little bit freaked out by the number of Goodwill stores popping up like Starbucks? I am not criticizing them, but it's freaky that so many stores are opening, including ones in the "nice" shopping centers.

I guess it makes sense, what with the retail mania of the last 20 years. Empty strip shopping centers on every corner, and these guys pay the rent on time. So now it's:
  • Bounce House
  • Vietnamese Nail Salon
  • Dollar Store
  • Ace Cash Express
  • Liquor Store
  • Darque Tan
  • Goodwill

I was thinking the same thing. A rather large Goodwill store recently opened in League City at FM646 and I45. Other stores in the same shopping complex include Best Buy, JC Penny, Starbucks (duh), Sports Authority, Hobby Lobby, Walmart, and Lowes. They must be doing ok.

99c Only being viewed as a higher end dollar store. When the hell did that market get segmented?!

Dollar stores seem to be the only new stores being built here.

I love them for many items, but it's a worrisome trend...

A lot of consignment stores popped up on Main St (where my store is) in the past few years. The good news is that they are clean & attractive. But now there are 4 where before there was 1.

Sure sign a neighborhood is dying is dollar, payday loan, and independent cell phone stores.

Remember the true mission behind Goodwill. The products people buy are helping to put the unemployed of America back to work.

This non profit uniquely uses the money from sales to support trainings for those who may not have a shot at obtaining employment on their own.

If you see them popping up it means more people are going to work!
