It's like deja vu all over again.

Facebook is buying Instagram for $1 billion with money they don't even have yet. If you haven't heard of Instagram, it's that little app on our phones that makes pictures look like Polaroid photos.

Om Malik says,
Facebook was scared shitless and knew that for first time in its life it arguably had a competitor that could not only eat its lunch, but also destroy its future prospects. Why? Because Facebook is essentially about photos, and Instagram had found and attacked Facebook’s achilles heel — mobile photo sharing.
Photos are important on Facebook, but it's not "essentially about photos". Most Facebook users go there to waste time on Zynga games, post boring status updates, make snarky comments to friends and laugh at Lolz pictures. And it's not exactly difficult to post photos to Facebook from your phone, unless you think tapping Send Photo is difficult.

We are at the January 2000 point.

I haven't signed on to Facebook for about a month or two. I totally don't miss it. The people that I actually want contacting me have my email and phone number. So, I've not fallen out of contact with them.
I have lost a ton of annoying dumbasses and information about their bunions or cats or what they think about politics etc.
Amazing how little I actually miss it like I miss having crabs which is none what so ever.

I use Facebook to keep in touch with my cousins and my old friends that live in other parts of the world. That means no idiots, and no one else I don't know. I have my account locked down so no one who isn't a friend can see it. It's better than email because it takes less effort for a quick update or picture that I want a select group to see. Otherwise, meh.
