The challenger from Massachusetts is extraordinarily wealthy and cannot relate to the common man. He inherited most of his wealth and his income is primarily derived from capital gains... money that isn't taxed as ordinary income. His father did some very shady things to generate their wealth!
He's considered too liberal in much of the country, but he does say that he would like to lower taxes. Can one offset the other?
He's a lifelong member of some weird church, and many (if not most) protestants won't abide someone of his faith being president. It just isn't gonna happen.
He is good looking though, and he does have a nice head of hair. So he has that going for him. Plus he's pretty glib.

Kennedy did not run against an incumbent.
Nixon was VP. Kennedy was facing an uphill battle.
And look what a bang up job Kennedy did.....I always said his legacy got lucky that it ended when it did. Kinda like what would have happened had the Beatles been able to get back together and produce schlock like once great bands like the Stones.
Man, I really do hate how people lionize him. Though I dislike him much less than Teddy. I always said if I ever had the chance, it would be worth the jail time to punch the guy.
yeah, I wonder when the 50 year later nostalgia orgy for JFK comes next year if anyone's going to mention Vietnam and JFK's crucial role in dragging us into that morass.
heck, they didn't even have oil!
Haha nicley done sir!
It also took some Chicago-style political tricks to get JFK elected.
"Man, I really do hate how people lionize him."
I understand your viewpoint. He wasn't the best president, and he wasn't the worst. There is also no doubt he set the wheels in motion for Vietnam. But he had charisma and a lot of the baby boomers were just coming of age when he was gunned down.
