I can't watch the video to see how bad the bathroom is, but I've been to bergen, It's surrounded by hills and fjords, not a lot of cheap land.
and norway is freaking expensive anyway. When I turned in my expenses my boss asked why I went to burger king almost every day. it was because a whopper was $9 and it was the cheapest meal I could find, everything else was $30 per meal.
It does look like a nice town. But that is still crazy expensive for such a tiny place and those prices aren't sustainable. It would be a nice rental, though.
That's actually not that bad considering incomes around here (PHD students pull down > 60k per year) Most people straight out of college are making around 70. Even so prices here are going up about 12% a year and even the low end of the market is starting to get out of reach for younger people.
I've heard of a few couples moving in together to cover the rent, maybe that helps the birth rate.
They look more insane than Californians. The only insane people are the ones who by them overpriced shacks and that could be anyone whether they are Californians or Texans or whoever else.

Sweet... are they doing no-doc, stated-income loans in Oslo right now? Could I get extra cash back at close?
I'm asking on behalf of... uhh... a friend. Yeah, that sounds good.

Well, she is from Bellingham, so the price isn't horribly shocking to her. Still, it could be much worse, they could be in Iceland.
