California Tourism
The State of California is running TV and radio spots here in Houston (and maybe your town) promoting tourism. I can't recall this happening in the past because it wasn't necessary. It's an "I Love NY" moment circa 1977, when New York was hurting, tourism was down and leaders felt the state suffered an image problem.

Up here in NY/NJ, we get ad for Philadelphia, Connecticut and Mass. And of course, Florida.
I saw some of those ads with the Sperminator and his wife before the scandal hit asking people to come to Cali.
