My personal favorite "German waiter" story was in Fulda on the last legs of our 1997 trip. We were all tired of German food so we spotted a Mexican place so we went in. The red-haired waitress handed us menus and we read them while she went to get water. We realized that it might be odd trying to convey American accents on Mexican food terms. We were still discussing it when the waitress came back with water and overheard us. With the most lilting of Celtic accents she told us: "Its OK, I'm from Ireland, I speak English."
So we were in a Mexican Restaraunt, in Germany, being served by an Irish waitress.
I have two great kids who I love more than life itself, despite any whining you might read here. Everything else is peanuts.

I keep hearing Bavaria is Germany's Texas. What do Texans think of that?
This won't work in reality, that is what I suppose.
