I don't think there is any conspiracy. I think we are witnessing a White House in total disarray, unable to form a coherent message. They have lost control of the narrative.
I do think these death photos exist, and I think I understand why Panetta and others promised the photos yesterday, only to be rebuffed by the president today. Presidents Clinton and Bush would have released these photos. With Obama, I think he ordered the photos to be withheld due to personal issues. He went from being a non-descript community organizer from Chicago to personally ordering a hit. I think Obama doesn't want the photos released because of the fact that he personally approved the greasing of another human being. OBL needed killing but it still weighs heavily on his soul. Which may be a good thing if you think about it.
Doesn't matter, really. These Osama death photos will leak out pretty soon.
Meanwhile, here's my immediate solution to defuse this. The White House should call a summit and invite influential bloggers, reporters and family members of 9/11 victims (who want to see). No cameras allowed. Show them the videos and photographs.

I really don't need to see Osama's corpse. But if someone like Glenn Reynolds or Lisa Beamer or Bob Woodward vouched for the evidence I think that would eliminate the doubt for most people. Rational people, anyway.
I think this is an accurate assessment, I haven't really thought of that angle. I think this is what has turned so many of our fellow citizens into conspiracy kooks. His message is convoluted, he goes back and forth on answers, he then tries to hide everything he said or had leaving most to question what he is hiding, when actually he is just in an insecure spot in what people think of him and what he wants people to think of him.
I agree with Anon - there was always going to be that certain percentage of dead enders that will be the next conspiracy wackjobs. But the fact that the story has changed so much over the last few days just adds fuel to the fire.
I think he likes the controversy...just like his birth certificate...it just drags on and on...distracts the people from the issues and onto things that don't matter. He has ordered lots of murders over the last few years...it is part of the job, since he has to approve CIA predator assanations in Pakistan and elsewhere.
There's already enough death-confirming public info for the non-OCD. For the rest, nothing will suffice.
