Lehigh Acres, FL

I quit posting to the HBB years ago, but Ben traveled to Florida recently and I have been looking at the photos. Lehigh Acres, Florida is really screwed. Page after page of photos like this. There must be thousands of houses there constructed over the past decade that are uninhabitable. It reminds me of what I saw as a kid in Houston during the 1980s, only x10. What a waste.

These houses will rot away faster than the abandoned houses in Detroit, what with termites, humidity and temperature. Plus Chinese sheetrock.

Drywall. Not sheetrock.

How did Casey Serin miss out on having a house foreclosed on in Florida?

Considering the climate, homes in FL should be built from block, metal & tile - no drywall, no wood!

Even here WWII-era houses at decommed military bases near the coast were destroyed when they shut down and turned off the air conditioning.
