A Detroit police officer is in the news. I work in a not great part of town and I see HPD officers taking naps in their cars every day. If they are on break I don't see why they shouldn't be allowed to take short naps. God bless our police officers.What I have a problem with is this:
Despite the photo, many of his fellow officers say he is a stand-up guy and a great cop, who gets guns and drugs off the streets. He works double shifts, has never been in trouble and does whatever is asked of him. They say he is a tremendous asset to his department and hope that does not go unnoticed.Government employees should never work double shifts except during times of crisis. Habitual double shifts stink of pension padding, which is a huge taxpayer ripoff.

How productive would anyone be working a double shift?? So fire the person that authorized it or the person that was asleep, but someone needs to be held responsible. Too often we end up with no one held accountable except the taxpayers who are then told to pay more so this won't happen again...
