¿Qué es esto?

Haven't asked this in a while. It should be easy.

Answer: Yes, it's the 730 ton tuned mass damper atop Taipei 101. Here it is during an earthquake.

It's one of the balance counterweights at the Taipei 101 building in Taiwan.

Looks kinda of small for that, unless they made it out of gold? Doesn't look shiny.

It's actually made out of steel plates welded together. They painted it gold for aesthetics. The damper cost something like $4million. I've actually been there and seen it in person. It's an awesome building to visit.
