Liening South Padre Island bubble condo imploded

From the Chronicle,
SOUTH PADRE ISLAND, Texas — Demolition crews have imploded an unfinished, leaning 31-story South Padre Island condominium tower.

The Ocean Tower was to be a 151-unit luxury project slated for a spa and other amenities. Construction began in 2006 but stopped last summer when it became obvious the tower was sinking faster than attached parking garages, causing cracks in beams and columns.

I can think of some other liening bubble condo towers around Houston that need implosion.

Unlike the Chinese, we implode our bubble condo towers before they topple over!

What's the betting pool for when the Burj Dubai™ gets demolished?

2025? ;-)

I love these videos. I am always amazed at how precise they get with bringing those down.

Are they going to use that rubble for a new seawall?
How did this get built with such obvious foundation problems?

The foundation problems weren't obvious until the tower started to lean. Something about a clay layer someone didn't take into account at some point

I don't think South Padre has a seawall. I could be wrong. It's been years since I trekked down there.
