Got Paranoia?

Mish readers do. By the bucketfuls. Reading the word salad contained in these responses I can only conclude that George W. Bush is the smartest, cruelest, most conniving man ever. Bumbling and mumbling? It's all a smokescreen! And Barack Obama? He works for Bush! Bush and Obama and Osama Bin Laden PLANNED THE 9/11 ATTACKS in order to build pipelines in Afghanistan (that's why Obama is sending more troops), but there were no attacks in the US and those planes we all saw were just mirages. False flag! WTC and the Pentagon were bombed by Halliburton and Unocal. And all of them report directly to Dick Cheney!

Speaking of word salad and Dick Cheney, here's Allena Hansen again. Can someone please explain what Allena is babbling about now?
What is fairly certain, however, is that this time there will be no AIG bailout for Halliburton. With the House Oversight Committee breathing down the neck of the Fed, not even Helicopter Ben will risk the wrath of a chastised Barney Frank and an enraged American public.
Then there's Charles Johnson. Have any doubts about manmade global warming? DENIAR! You're a fundy Jew-hating right-wing kOOk neo-Nazi who works for BIG OIL AND BIG TOBACCO. There is nothing to "Climategate." The word "trick" means a different thing to scientists than it does to stupid dolts like you. You probably want to hang census takers and write "FED" on their shirts!

Sigh. Blogs I have followed for years have degraded so much. Everybody's so different. I haven't changed.

Blogs are generally a waste of time. Precious time. 20 minutes a day max. Life is too short.

I've been following your blog since 2006. It's been very consistent and enjoyable.

As for whether or not blogs in general are worth people's time, it feels great knowing that I can simply ignore the bad ones at any time. The one or two that I do appreciate have given me access to insights or information which I would have otherwise never been exposed to. Like every technological advancement, we have to take the bad with the good, and do the best we can.

I have about 4 blogs I visist everyday. This is one of them. Blogs are a reflection of the people who write them. If the blog is owned by a person you could have an intelligent conversation with then you'll probably visit that blog often. Lou is one of the very few on the internet that makes the cut.

Hey it's like talking at the coffee bar...everyone has their own ideas. That said, perhaps you just notice it more now that you have deal with what sounded good in theory ain't so good in practice. Not to worry, you kids will have a life time to fix the new problems on top of the old ones.

I'm with jgriff. Only a handful. Sometimes I only look at two blogs, yours and Rob Dawg's. If time allows, I check Calculated Risk, but the comments are usually a vast cesspool of inanity.

I miss the days of Housing Bubble Blog back in the pre-bubble-bust time, which is how I found a lot of other interesting ones (some short-lived like Kerriella's and StephanieJ's) and sometimes I still post there, but I can only stand occasional visits given how long it takes to wade through the growing nonsense.

I'm sure there are hordes of other good blogs out there with reasonable people having reasonable conversations, but who has the time?

Oh, and there are a couple of local neighbourhood blogs up here that I watch as well, but they're very local-focused. You get a good mix of topics in yours, be it Houston, or West Texas, or Dubai or other world news, or the old-timey kids' parks, or just plain off-the-wall stuff. Keep it up -- please!

Well, that doesn't take up much time, given that Rob only updates his about 30 times per year. ;-)

Allow this lurker to pile on with the kudos, Lou. I sometimes disagree with you. But it takes a constant struggle to see what's happening under our noses. Thanks for struggling along with the rest of us & maintaining a sense of dignity.
