Detroit East Catholic High School

Closed in 2005 (PDF file). And here it is four years later.

It appears they just walked away, leaving everything behind. It doesn't look like rain has seeped inside yet, but the elements are still taking a toll, even within just four years.

I was shocked by the trophy room.

Looks better than most of the city.

Such a beautiful interior. And there are so many others in Detroit like it decaying away. It's a shame that you can't relocate them somewhere else where they could be used and appreciated.

The rest of the site is interesting as well. I found this one particularly indicative of the state of affairs:

Hi,
I ran across your article an I was floored.I graduated from East Catholic High School in 1974- I came back to teach(20 years)all 3 of my kids graduated from East Catholic. I was there when they closed all of the schools. The pictures made me cry. That school was a pillar in the city and now it sits just one more eyesore.
So many memories...and they just closed it up and didn't even take stuff out..criminal.

When you say they walked away that is literally what they did. I don't know if there is any hope for the building, I walked through the building today and my heart was saddened.Only because it was in the city it was left like that.
