Glenn has a post up about this. Folks are trying to drum up controversy, but the local ads have been pretty civil, just the usual "my opponent is a tax cheat" kind of stuff. I don't care what inclinations or skin color the new mayor has, as long as they don't replicate Leepee.

HPD hated Whitmire, but the fact is she kept the city intact despite our localized economic depression. We were on the verge of becoming Detroit II and instead we emerged a new city.
If Lee Brown was at the helm at the time I suspect the outcome would have been different.
