WaMu: The Shystiest Guys in the Room

So much juicy meat from the Seattle Times:
"(Washington Mutual CEO Kerry Killinger) could look at a financial statement and get to the heart of what was going on in a nanosecond," said Fay Chapman, WaMu's chief legal officer from 1997 to 2007. "But he could not have run a coffee stand. I just don't think his mind works that way."
No worries about Killinger. He made out like... a banker.

Killinger and his partners-in-crime, including Casey Serin, should be frog-marched out of their homes at gunpoint, and subsequently hanged in public.

Tell me you wouldn't pay as a spectator...

I've seen sooooo many people like that. Frequently, having a head for numbers doesn't translate into having a head for business. That was why I only hired 1 finance graduate in 15 years as a broker. Frankly, I looked for bartenders, people that worked retail, or Marines.
Being good at business is about thinking of opportunities and the possible foibles of said opportunities. Usually people that are good at numbers are only good for telling you post mortem why something didn't work.
