The French love McDonald's

A bunch of people are getting their panties in a wad over a McDonald's franchise in the Louvre. Been there, done that. The Louvre is wonderful, and there's an underground food court that already has a large selection of franchised fast food outlets. If you've never been it looks like your typical mall food court. Last time I went to the Louvre I got a slice of greasy franchise outlet pizza. Why is McDonald's any different?

I have never understood why McDonald's is so feared. People line up wherever McDonald's appears, so it's not like McDonald's is oppressing local culture. People want McDo's all over the Earth. And can we be honest with ourselves? Authentic French food is not healthy. It's laden with fat and grease and cholesterol. Don't push the health angle, because there isn't one. It all boils down to portion size.

The real issue is McDonald's provides fast, affordable food for the masses. The rabble pollute the Louvre and McDonald's will only encourage more of them. If you try to claim otherwise you're lying through your teeth. :-)

It seems to be about the only thing we can export. That and KFC. B

After they put up Pei's hideous glass pyramid, which renders me half-blind with the visual clash it makes against the classic architecture behind it, I really don't think McDonalds serving their greasy burgers in the food court is that much of a problem.

Tear down that glass scaffolding, and only then might I feel differently about Mickey D's.

Ever check out that "People of Wal-Mart" website? There are valid criticisms of Wal-Mart, but that website is ultimately about laughing at poor people.

This reminds me, whatever happened to FF? It's a time-honored tradition to complain about the mods, but something there is broken.

You know, I was thinking the same thing the other day when I was viewing it.

I wonder if there's a "People Who Attend Yacht Races" or "Dumb Clothing at the Kentucky Derby" website.
