War on the US border

Texas governor Rick Perry made a big splash last week by announcing that he's sending more Texas Rangers to the border. It seemed to me that it was a political move, but after further consideration I think it's not only warranted, the Feds have abdicated their responsibility. I can't source this, but I heard on the radio the other day that there were over 100 murders in Juárez during the first week of September alone. And now it's spreading over into El Paso.

We have to legalize drugs to take away their cash flow. Not that I am a fan of drugs, but we should regulate them and sell them cheap.

I think it his action is multi purposed...always thinking of the next election (never rule out 2012 in his mind), but there is a true need for action...way past due. I suspect that polls tell him that the conservative/moderate portion of the Tex-Mex community now support the move....I think he is going to be win...doubted it six months ago, and Kay has the DC stigma to overcome.

Perry is doing a good job and has probably been more pro-border security than any governor of any state in U.S. history. This fits his m.o. and does not appear to be pandering.
