One year after Ike

One year ago tomorrow, Ike entered into the conversation. We've had an interesting past 12 months, wouldn't you say? I am looking forward to uninteresting.

One year after Ike and Centerpoint has again neglected the problems that left us without power for three weeks and has stopped trimming the trees again.

Mayor White launched an amazing campaign of making things better for the next hurricane with a multistep plan for preparedness that failed to include trimming the stupid trees.

I look forward to a full month without power next time around.

Funny but mine was the last post. I bemoaned my kids "getting behind a day". Oh man, little did we know.

Ugh.

I should have worded it better. I meant so much has happened in the past 12 months besides Ike. Things that most of us would never dream of. Ike was just the convenient starting point for me.

We live in interesting times.

Same here Lou. My personal life as well as professional life was much different. I got laid off and rehired at a better place in the last year and have seen my marriage do the same. Except it hasn't gotten better yet and I seriously doubt it will get better this time.

Yeah, me too. As my divorce finalized, I had moved out and into my own place in Spring last July. Hell of a year it had been up till then. Woke up Ike morning with a tree on my roof and no fence left standing. Could've been much worse. I'm still employed and slogging through. Son moved in with me over the summer and that's been good. Hopefully things turn around with the economy in the coming year.
