Soda

Sick of the corn syrup?

Every city should have a store like Galco's.

Speaking of recycle vs re-use. When I was in college Shiner Bock was very limited. You couldn't get it outside of San Antonio, Austin, Houston and of course Shiner. There was no recycling, the bottles were re-used. People would buy cases of longnecks then return the bottles. I agree with Mr. Nese, recycling is not the eco-friendly way to go, re-use is.

Coffee soda sounds pretty good. The Coca-Cola Corporation sold coffee soda a few years ago (can't remember what they called it... was it "Coke Black"?) and I thought it was great, even with the corn syrup. Then they ditched the experiment.

Great video, great guy. I am a huge fan of vanilla coke, I bet he has some great ones there.

I also remember re-use. When I was little we always had to go to the liquor store with my mom with my dad's Falstaff returnables, would trade the empty case for the case of fulls. I did the same in college, not with Falstaff, but with whatever was cheap.

It's gratifying to see Galco's get a bit more exposure.

I'm glad to hear someone else spout off about CRV. It's such a scam. You pay a fixed price at checkout, and the recycler pays you by the weight. The difference, about 50%, is what goes back into your pocket.

That was fantastic. thank you so much for posting that. Damn, I want to try some of that... just spend 3 weeks in that store drinking bottle after bottle after bottle. And you could just see his delight. Iluvs that.

Cool video Lou, thanks for posting it.

Just looking briefly at the old time candies I saw things my Mom would enjoy...hmmm.

One thing I admire about him is that he's created a niche that he lives for. Most men his age are retired or are about to. I'd prefer to keep doing something that I love rather than retire.

Houstonian's are familiar with Spec's. I haven't been to one of those stores in a long time, but browsing their site I see they carry a lot of soft drinks I haven't heard of. I think I'll check them out this weekend.
