Against my better judgment I was dragged to Angels & Demons last night. I never read the book, and I think that Dan Brown writes crap. But a certain someone wanted to see it, so off we went.
Illuminati! Anti-matter! Catholic Church conspiracies! Pounding music! Angels & Demons is supposed to be a thoughtful thriller, but in reality it's a bloated load of pretentious nonsense. I kept falling asleep, was jerked awake, only to find the movie had another 90 minutes to run. Then 80 minutes. Then 70 minutes...
The careers of Tom Hanks and Ron Howard are really in decline if they are reduced to this. Hanks is looking bloated, and during the few moments I was able to stay awake it looked like he was having a hard time mouthing his lines with a straight face.
This was 2 1/2 hours of my life that I want back.

Michael, the only worse date movie is The Soloist.
"Drag Me to Hell" would be a better date movie.
Or at least more believable.
Bill, that's the one I wanted to see. I'm a big Sam Raimi fan.
If you should be lucky enough to get another date, I suggest The Proposal.
Sorry but unless you hate Sandra Bullock doing physical comedy, this is one hilarious "chick flick". My bf laughed louder and harder than I did and I laughed pretty damn hard myself.
Betty White was "so-so", she was on 1/2 the time, the other 1/2 she was way over the top. But she had only a small part.

Unfortunately, sometimes you don't always look at the reviews first to see what you are getting into. You'd think with a title like "Life is Beautiful" you'd be safe, but nooooo.
