It's the opposite of a halo effect. Wall Street thinks of Jobs as a messiah and has long ignored real geniuses like Avi Tevanian et al to the point of nausea. That's why so many ex Apple employees that nobody has really ever heard of go either form companies that VC throws tons of cash at or see a huge increase in stock price by their presence.
After the boss's son left the business, look how the disciples dispersed and ended up founding all the various spin offs that comprise modern Christianity.
It takes getting away from the Jobs "reality distortion field" for these guys to get recognition that they deserve.
I know one guy who left for Palm last year to work on the Pre.
Ex Apple people founded Palm and then Handspring which is really what saved Palms tuckus.
