The Andromeda Strain
I mentioned last month a book that I have re-read many times. Another book that I have re-read 10-15 times over the years is The Andromeda Strain by Michael Crichton. I have been reading it the past 2 days late at night and even though the story is almost 40 years old it is still fresh and very intriguing. (It also strikes me as the book from which Stephen King lifted half of his ideas for The Stand.) While the movie version is highly cheesy and dated (with references to "the kids getting high"), the book still packs a serious punch. The death of Michael Crichton last month was a big loss.

I too am sorry Michael Crichton died. One of my favorite authors, he was.
It gave me my best line for when it all seems to be about to hit the fan at work.

My favorite book of Chriton is Eaters of the Dead. I bought a used copy from 1/2 Price since it seemed interesting. I knew nothing of the book at all and didn't read the forward. I always wait until I've finished books to read the forwards. Kind of like avoiding movie reviews as much as possible.
I figured out the "secret" of the book about 1/2 way and still love how he retold the story. Very very awesome writer.
