So what happened to that Bush coup we were promised?

Crazy people promised that there would be a coup tonight.
The Bush administration has both the inclination and the power to cancel the 2008 election.

The GOP strategy for another electoral theft in 2008 has taken clear shape, though we must assume there is much more we don't know.

But we must also assume that if it appears to Team Bush/Cheney/Rove that the GOP will lose the 2008 election anyway (as it lost in Ohio 2006), we cannot ignore the possibility that they would simply cancel the election. Those who think this crew will quietly walk away from power are simply not paying attention.

I must have not been paying attention. So what happened?
US President George W. Bush late Tuesday telephoned his apparent successor, Democrat Barack Obama, to congratulate him on his "awesome night," according to White House spokeswoman Dana Perino.

"Mr President-elect, congratulations to you. What an awesome night for you, your family and your supporters. Laura and I called to congratulate you and your good bride," she quoted Bush as telling Obama.

"I promise to make this a smooth transition. You are about to go on one of the great journeys of life. Congratulations and go enjoy yourself," Bush told Obama, she said.

The president also invited Obama and his family "to visit the White House soon, at their convenience," Perino said.
Bush doesn't sound like a guy who's about to run off to Paraguay. I think it's about time for people to quit paying attention to nutbags who read/listen to Daily Kos or Alex Jones or Michael Savage.

Except for entertainment value.

Just imagine the nutbar's hysterical accusations if McCain had won.

Obama wins, we cry in our beers and move forward, resolute to fight his move towards socialism and that this, too, will pass.

If McCain had won, there would have been riots and blood in the streets. That's what they promised.

Obama is uber aloof, and why shouldn't he be? Fatherless, motherless, no close friends, save Michelle. He has his daughters and now he has the hardest job in the world. Right now, he has the full support of Pelosi, Dingy, Schumer, Jon Forbes Kerry. Yup, they got his back.( Like the Roman Senate had Cesar's).

The Chinese are throwing a hundred million will-work-for-food people onto their urban streets. North Korea is pulling a Jonestown. Iran is pulling a Waco. The US is running a trillion dollar a year spending problem, and we are well on our way to a European size taxes, Soviet style bureaucracy, and Detroit quality graduates( I had to explain to a mid twenty something, graduate in 'international relations major, what My Lai was. Never heard of it.)

On the other hand. I remember how in the Peanut Farmer's era US Army I thought how could anything be so messed up, so screwed up. That was until I met other Armies.

I think we'll muddle through. It's not the end of the world. We're not.....France!

Since most of my reading diet is left-wing because my friends are, it is nice to be reminded that idiocy does not depend upon party affiliation.

Keera Ann - there are plenty of idiots to go around of all stripes.

Good post Lou. Kos should have lost all readers/credibility with the "baby isn't Palin's" story. Disgusting.

Unfortunately Kos, Jones and Savage will only gain more listeners simply because government has replaced the church in where our hope is placed (particular in liberal quarters). Last night displayed that rather well. Sheep.

For the left, Obama is my president, even if I didn't vote for him. I will be watching with a critical eye, but will show him the respect he deserves. If we are attacked by terrorists on his watch, I won't try to pin it on him as some conspiracy. I also pledge not to use the monkey face comparisons that were used so liberally on Bush, nor call him an "idiot". Even if we on the right had to deal with that over the past 8 years. Congratulations Democrats, we willl be watching, so do well. Our country first, parties second.

Are you ready? Open up your wallets!
- cancellation of Bush tax cuts
- additional income tax increases
- payroll tax increases
- CO2 taxes
- windfall taxes on politically incorrect industries
- socialization of health care

My industry is going to be on the chopping block in a big way. I'm not looking forward to the next 4 years.

The crazies will continue spouting this stuff until after the inauguration. And even then they will be warning that big scary looking guys, carrying guns, almost certainly Republicans, make up most of the military. Why couldn't they just carry stuffed animals and give hugs?

Too true. I remember nutjobs saying the same thing about Clinton on the Jeff Rense show. Y2K, October Surprise; I can't wait for the year 2013 so I can laugh some more.
