Meanwhile, look at what I stumbled upon tonight. Remember Wacky Packs?
I had hundreds of these stickers when I was my son's age, all carefully sorted in a special box. I kept them for years, then my mom tossed them when I went off to college. I won't say they would be worth a fortune, but they'd be worth a few bucks now. So you parents out there, don't toss away the stuff your kids are collecting. Fight the cleaning mania. Just stick this stuff in a closet and once the kids graduate from college, then tell them to take it or lose it.Fortunately I still have all of my 70s-era Hot Wheels and Matchbox cars. Matchbox cars were "Made in England by Lesney." That went away around 1972, I think. Hot Wheels were made in Malaysia by then.

I remember Matchbox cars, I had several of them as a kid as did all my friends! I'm sure they've all been thrown out by now as we used to play games with them and they certainly weren't in mint condition last time I saw them which would have been about 30 years ago...
Sorry this has been such a rough year for you. I hope things pick up next year, and with your intelligence and talents I'm sure they will.
I got wacky packages as well. But I stuck them on the dresser. They were stickers after all. The dresser always smelled like that gum for years afterward.
I have been hard-pressed to avoid expressing my curiosity about the hammers. I really hope they are not striking as hard as they used to and that they are nothing but a irksome part of your past in the near future.
Yeah, I have all of my Matchbox cars, but at some point I threw away all of the little boxes they came in.
Matchbox cars were still "Made in England by Lesney" as late as 1977. That summer I was 12, it was my parents' 20th wedding anniverary, and they took my brother and me along with them on a trip to Ireland and Great Britain (i.e. UK minus Northern Ireland). My dad actually contacted Lesney to see if they allowed tours. They didn't. :-((
I still have my Matchbox cars, plus a few raggedy Hot Wheels. Some of the Matchboxes I still have the cardboard box for. Being somewhat OCD, I kept them filed in a plastic container so they are in great shape.
Like Bob, I have been hard pressed to be so inquisitive.
For you sister's sake, I guess I am glad things are in statis, and not worse. For your sake, I hope hammer 2 diminishes in size and weight.
To be honest, I hope both hammers retreat in size and significance in 2009.
As the trite, but true, saying goes...what does not kill us makes us stronger.
Tired but so very true having lived through some of those hammer times in my own life.
I wish your family nothing but the best going forward.

Sorry.
