I think Edouard could be another Alicia, the last major hurricane to hit Houston. The forecast track is almost identical and so are the conditions. Watch the oil markets surge tomorrow as traders take into account a possible shutdown of the massive refineries along the ship channel. The rigs out in the Gulf will weather this storm just fine.
Update: Nice forecast for Katy on Tuesday:
Tuesday: Tropical storm conditions possible. Showers and thunderstorms likely. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 91. Heat index values as high as 102. North wind 10 to 15 mph increasing to between 40 and 50 mph. Winds could gust as high as 70 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%.Shingles will be flying and power's gonna be out for a few days. Major suckage. 70 mph winds in Katy, 50 miles inland, it sounds to me like they are expecting a hurricane.
