He formed pretty quickly. Yippee! Lotsa nice beneficial rain headed this way. The plants will suck it up and maybe the armadillos will take a break from their nightly raids into my flower beds. In light of what I said yesterday, I hope my roof holds up! With the way this summer has panned out for me, I expect leaks. Why not? Just some more crap added to the shit sandwich I've been eating since the end of June.

I think Edouard could be another Alicia, the last major hurricane to hit Houston. The forecast track is almost identical and so are the conditions. Watch the oil markets surge tomorrow as traders take into account a possible shutdown of the massive refineries along the ship channel. The rigs out in the Gulf will weather this storm just fine.

Update: Nice forecast for Katy on Tuesday:
Tuesday: Tropical storm conditions possible. Showers and thunderstorms likely. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 91. Heat index values as high as 102. North wind 10 to 15 mph increasing to between 40 and 50 mph. Winds could gust as high as 70 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%.
Shingles will be flying and power's gonna be out for a few days. Major suckage. 70 mph winds in Katy, 50 miles inland, it sounds to me like they are expecting a hurricane.

Who's bright idea was it to pick "Edouard"? I predict lots of misspellings.

Lou, Stay safe, but if you can, take some pictures.

Pity they didn't name it "Edward", after someone we both know and love, huh?

Tropical Storm Heinz?

"Tropical Storm Heinz"

It's been a while since I snorted tea out of my nostrils. That just did it.
Congratulations. :-)
