What the hell is the UN "World Court"?

Some assholes at the "World Court," whatever the hell that is, demanded that the State of Texas spare some scumbag murderers. Meanwhile, look at what happened in Iran today.

Not a peep from the UN. Nary a protest from the "World Court". I am forced to conclude that the UN World "Court" believes that it's cool to brutally execute homosexuals because of their sexual desires, but it is wrong to execute lowlifes who savagely rape and then murder 14 year old girls if they happen to be American. What other conclusion is there?

The UN has become a wasteland, and utterly useless.

We allow countries that absolutely believe in oppressive dictatorships, terrorism, and the like to have the same voice as (dare I say it) more enlightened societies who believe in equality.

I lost faith in the UN the day they applauded Yasser Arafat, and who was allowed to take his pistol with him to address the assembly.

Something along those lines would've been my fate if I attempted my fraudulent schemes back in the "old country". There, a $2.2 million fraud nets you a $0.25 bullet. :-p

To be fair, the International Court of Justice was to a large extent an American idea and the US was a founding member and signed the treaty establishing it. It is supposed to settle disputes between countries. Since Iran is killing its own citizens, no other country has standing to take it to the ICJ if I've understood it correctly.

If you want a real UN scandal, there are plenty out there e.g. the Human Rights Commission. Anyway, to address what wanglese said, if we only allowed the "good" countries to participate, the UN would really lose all its usefulness. The point of the UN is to in effect regulate international affairs and to be a forum for diplomacy. With only democratic countries, it couldn't do any of those things

I disagree, aslak. The original "United Nations" were the WWII "allies". Then they let in former enemies, who had reformed at nuke-point. Then they just flat out let in enemies.
