A reader pointed out in a different thread that kids still get to practice shooting .22 rifles at YMCA summer camp. There is still some sanity left in our world.Me? Summer camp was the absolute best time of my life as a kid. Each July, Mom would drive two hours to drop me off at Camp Hazen, and I spent either 2 or 4 weeks in contented bliss. The cabins were un-airconditioned and broiling at times, but it didn't matter. The food was even pretty good, with the exception of the oatmeal which everyone called "Hazen paste." I never understood the handful of kids who moped around being homesick. The only thing I didn't like about YMCA summer camp was the ride home.
I am looking forward to sending my son to Camp Cullen next summer. I can't wait to hear how much he enjoyed it.
Now, Meatballs. Was there anything remotely funny about that movie? Other than leaving Morty asleep in the middle of the road or on a raft in the lake.

I went to Rio Vista - for five weeks. That was a blast.
There was nothing remotely funny about Meatballs. Everone needed a haircut.
Do NOT send your kids to YMCA Mirror Lake. That place is run by a bunch of homicidal maniacs. I was going to send my 7 year old there during the summer. We were assured that the kids would have ample opportunity to swim and go inside to cool down and such during the heat of the day and that lots of water would be served to keep them hydrated etc.
It was all a pack of lies.
The first day she came home in severe heat exhaustion, drank two whole bottles of gatorade and crashed. She was not allowed to swim, play in the water, or even eat her lunch inside. she was even forced to sit out in the hot blacktop parking lot and wait on her mom to pick her up instead of inside in the AC. She was asked if the bathrooms were even clean and her response was she didn't know, she had not needed to go to the bathroom all day (she was dehydrated obviously). I turned them into CPS for child endangerment and demanded a refund (which took over a month and a half to get.) The woman had the gall to lie to me and tell me that the kids were playing in a slip and slide (because the pool was broken) and that she SAW them playing in the slip and slide. Lies lies and more lies.
Some christian organization they've got going there!
The Christians were booted out of the YMCA eons ago.
